Using Bibliotherapy in Play Therapy to Introduce Mindfulness $59

This two-hour course explores how to introduce mindfulness skills to children through the power of bibliotherapy. This course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and practical tools needed to effectively engage children during play therapy sessions using an array of children’s books that focus on slowing down and being present.

Children possess the human inclination to identify with others through literature and art. This course aims to demonstrate mindfulness exercises/activities that can be coupled with books to facilitate introducing age-appropriate mindfulness skills.

This course also aims to empower participants with the skills needed to cultivate a thoughtful therapeutic library that will enhance their work with children and families in the playroom environment.

Upon completion of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the terms of Mindfulness and Bibliotherapy as they apply to play therapy.
  • List 5 benefits of utilizing bibliotherapy to introduce mindfulness with children in play therapy
  • Identify over 25 children’s books that have therapeutic value in teaching mindfulness skills and learn how to utilize them in the playroom.
  • List over 20 play therapy activities/interventions that promote mindfulness when partnered with bibliotherapy in the playroom.
